Network Discovery and Scan

When Service Pack Manager is loaded, it performs network discovery and presents a network tree of NT/2000/XP/2003 machines in a familiar form. To perform a network scan, user can select any combination of network resources, by marking the corresponding check boxes. Scan is performed by clicking on the NetQuery button on the toolbar.

Scan Results

The results of the scan appear in the right top pane. Every scanned computer includes information about the version and type of the Windows system, as well as the installed Service Pack details. As you browse through the computer list, the right bottom pane displays all the available patches corresponding to the Service Pack installed on the selected computer. The patches that are already stored locally on your system or on specified network share are designated by a yellow indicator, while those that already have been installed on the selected computer are designated by green indicator. Thus, you can easily compare what is the status of the selected computer versus the available patches. You can download the patches to your local computer by marking the corresponding check boxes and clicking on the Download button on the toolbar.

The left pane of the OS Information tab displays the list of available Service Packs corresponding to particular OS version. Browsing through this list causes the list of associated patches to be displayed in the right pane. Selecting a patch from the list in the right pane causes corresponding Microsoft Security Bulletin information to be displayed in the right bottom pane.

LiveUpdate

At any time, you can run LiveUpdate for the latest updates available from Microsoft. The date and time of the LiveUpdate you have performed are displayed on the status bar. You can configure Service Pack Manager to run LiveUpdate periodically by using LiveUpdate Scheduler. After LiveUpdate is completed, the new hotfixes are indicated by a 'new' indicator.

Patch Download
